Chau des Baux Chau des Baux is a complex of several buildings that were carved out of the mountain peak. Today most of these are in ruins, but portions of them do remain intact. Inside the compound is the ruined chateau itself, which features a tower shaped donjon surrounded by ramparts, as well as the two towers known as Tour Paravel and Tour Sarascenes. A collection of replicated siege engines are here, and these were constructed from the original plans. The site covers an area nearly five times that of the present village of Les Baux-de-Provence, and the spot provides an excellent view of the 'Valley of Hell'.
