Pont d'Avignon Also known as the Pont St.Benezet, this bridge, partially washed away during the 17th century, is said to have been the project of a young shepherd who had been told by God to build a bridge over the Rhone. Open in 1184, the bridge was a major transport and pilgrimmage route between Italy and Spain. Address:
